Michelle Roche

Dr Roche is an Associate Professor and Neuroscientist in Physiology at the University of Galway, Ireland. Her research focuses on enhancing understanding of the neurobiology underlying chronic pain, autism and affective disorders and their interactions, with the aim to identify novel therapeutic targets for these conditions. She has a particular interest in the role of neuroimmune, endocannabinoid and opioid systems in these disorders. To date, her research has resulted in over 80 research manuscripts and reviews and has been presented at over 200 conferences. Dr Roche is Director of the Galway Neuroscience Centre and Co-Director of the Centre for Pain Research and at the University of Galway. She is President-elect of the Irish Pain Society and former member of Governing Council of Neuroscience Ireland. Dr Roche is member of the Scientific Advisory Panel and Early Career Workshop Committee of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP) and an Editorial Board member of several international scientific journals.
